Founded in 2021, RHCPS is a voluntary, community-led organisation dedicated to researching, preserving and promoting the heritage, history and cultural identity of Roughfort and the surrounding district.
Our history should not be forgotten
For centuries, Roughfort has been shaped by ancient settlement, medieval fortification, rural life, religious heritage, agriculture, industry and community tradition. These stories have formed the landscape we live in today and deserve to be carefully preserved, accurately researched and shared with future generations.
Through historical research, community projects, educational initiatives and heritage events, we seek to ensure that the remarkable history of Roughfort remains accessible, relevant and appreciated by people of all ages.

We use historic maps, archives, photographs, newspapers, census records and local memories to document Roughfort, Kilgreel, Craigarogan and the surrounding district.
Heritage Conservation
We promote the protection and appreciation of archaeological monuments, historic buildings, memorials and places of cultural significance.
Education
We develop talks, exhibitions, guided presentations and local history resources for residents, schools and visitors.
Community Projects
